Capt. Tracy Collins |
![]() About the Captain
BARHOPPER CHARTERS is owned and operated by Captain Tracy Collins. Being a 5th generation Cedar Key native, Capt. Tracy has spent his entire life as a "waterman" along Florida's Nature Coast, having been involved in both charter and commercial fishing. Capt. Tracy learned much of his craft from his Uncle Edgar "Yellow Legs" Campbell (1922-2000). "Yellow Legs", as he was known since childhood, is known by many to be a "legend" on the Gulf Coast as well as in the Florida Keys for his lifetime of adventures and exploits that spanned nearly seventy years.Captain Campbell was a charter/commercial fisherman and an unforgettable character. Today, Capt. Tracy carries on that legacy. It's probably safe to say that Capt. Tracy was born with fishing in his blood. Capt. Tracy was raised by his Uncle Edgar and his Aunt Rosie (who was quite the fisherperson in her own right). Capt. Tracy began going out on his Uncle's charter boat at a very young age and has logged countless hours up and down the Levy County coast. Although Capt. Tracy's experience level is well beyond his years, he freely admits he's still learning. He estimates that he, along with mating with his uncle as a teenager, has been on nearly 2,000 charters. Capt. Tracy considers himself a student of the local environment, always taking note of the movement and migratory patterns of both inshore and offshore fish. Furthermore, Capt. Tracy is very proud of his local heritage, and he is very knowledgeable of the area's people, economy and history. Capt. Tracy makes every effort to see that his customers have an enjoyable and productive day. Captain Tracy offers both inshore and offshore trips. |
